Finding Hope in Christ’s Resurrection

Have you ever seen someone without hope? It’s a terrible thing to see. And nothing brings into contrast the difference between those without hope and those with hope than the concept of the resurrection of Christ.

This message brings the issue of hope we have in Christ’s resurrection to our own.

The Importance of God’s Word…

One of my favorite old-time cartoon characters was Foghorn Leghorn. Do you remember some of his trademark phrases? “Pay attention to me when I’m talkin’ to you boy!” Sometimes I feel like God might want to say that. Like God would like to slap you or me upside the back of the head and say, “Pay attention when I’m talking to you boy!”

I say that because I am not sure there has been a more literate generation in human history who has been less biblically literate than today’s. We know there is a story of Noah and the Ark, but we aren’t sure how it really happened. We have heard of Samson, but we aren’t really sure what he did, other than fall in love with an evil beautician. We know there’s and Old Testament and a New Testament, but we aren’t really sure of how they are different. This high degree of biblical illiteracy comes from our failure to pay attention to what God says. In this message we look at Jesus speaking in his Sermon on the Mount. As you listen, I hope you get a fresh appreciation for the importance of God’s Word.

“I’m Hungry — I Just Don’t Know for What”

There you stand in front of the refrigerator holding the door open looking inside.

You’re hungry, but while the ‘fridge is full, nothing there is what you’re really looking for. How many times have you felt this way?

I personally found what I was hungry for during the summer of my sophomore year at the University of Pittsburgh. In this audiofile, I explain how I found it.
