Thank you for your prayers…

The memorial service was held on December 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Curwensville Alliance Church. The service was followed by a luncheon in the Activities Center. On behalf of Shellie’s family and church family, if you attended, sent regards, provided food, or simply prayed for the family, thank you. Jack and Marilynn have indicated any memorials should go to the church memorial fund.

Shellie’s body was laid to rest in a private ceremony earlier that week. Thank you for praying for the process of repatriation. The woman at the US Consulate in Burkina was wonderful. Esther, the assistant to the VP for Overseas Ministries in the National Office was extremely helpful with this process. Likewise, those on the field have shown extreme professionalism with unparalleled compassionate Christian grace.

As you think of Shellie, please continue to pray along these lines:

  1. Pray for Jack, Marilynn, and Grandma Gertie — that they will be able to see God’s love and grace in their time of loss. They appreciate your prayers and are appreciative of the phone calls and visits.
  2. Pray for Wendy and the many other friends who will miss Shellie.
  3. Pray for those in Burkina, especially both those at the mission and the national church. They, too, have lost a loved one. Pray that God will embrace them in his comforting arms.
  4. Pray that God will continue to use Shellie’s death as he used her life — for his glory. Pray for those who attended the Memorial Service and opened their hearts to the saving grace of God offered in Jesus. Pray that if they received Christ as their Savior that they will commit to a Bible believing church and begin to grow in their faith.

May God continue to care for us as a family and as individuals through this difficult time.

Under God’s Grace,
Pastor Steve
